“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
My professional story begins after graduating from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Somewhere during the seven post-college years, I followed my heart from New Jersey to Washington, DC. It was there that I uncovered a unique job where my love of writing could flourish alongside my detail-oriented event planner alter-ego. This position was rooted within the Creative Services department at a well-known event firm. For me, it was the holy grail of jobs, and I went for it.
For the next decade, I worked at the event company serving clients around the world. I grew within the Creative Services department, and coveted projects that required storytelling and creative writing. A few years in, I had established myself as not only a skilled content writer, but a leader of both the company’s creative and marketing programs. At the top of my game as the Director, I had assembled an amazingly talented group of creatives (writers, photographers, videographers, digital marketers, graphic designers, researchers, copyeditors, etc.). And as a team that spanned the country, we were crushing it.
Then came the pandemic, and everything changed. With all in-person events and travel abruptly halted, the company had to let-go approximately 80% of the workforce - myself and my team included.
Other than the loss of connecting with my incredible team on a daily basis, I missed helping my colleagues from all departments elevate their content and marketing efforts from standard to exceptional.
Doing what you love is invigorating, and what I love is to collaborate on marketing strategy, craft compelling content, and to fearlessly bring innovative and creative ideas to the table. After that realization, the next chapter in my career came into focus. It was then I decided to launch a new venture called Katkocin [cat-CO-sin] Creative. Under that moniker, I connect clients with their customers via creative brainstorming, digital marketing strategies and engaged writing/editing services.
I love bringing stories to life, whether it’s a company’s brand, or an individual’s persona. It’s my pleasure to find creative solutions, and make my clients stand out in a sea of ordinary. While working at Katkocin Creative, I am still openly researching opportunities for part-time or full-time positions where I can be valuable to a cross-functional team. Let’s be a part of each other’s stories!
